Balance

Recently I've been trying out Reiki positions that I feel work well for me.

  • Lying or sitting down, I cross my arms over my chest. This feels like a mini hug although you don't actually wrap your arms around you. If you feel like it, then of course do the whole bear hug thing but crossing your arms and just resting your hands on opposite shoulders is a lovely position to give yourself reiki. Very comforting. Use the symbols as you're drawn to do so. Listen to your intuition.

The next position that I've been working with is this:

  • Lie down on a bed and cross your feet left over right to start. At the same time cross your arms over your chest right over left, the opposite of your feet. Hold this position for 5-10 mins or as long as it remains comfortable. After holding this position for the desired time swap over and put your right foot over left, cross the left arm over the right. Hold this position for another 5-10 mins. This isn't meant to be uncomfortable so don't hold the position for two long to start with. It feels very balancing and is a great way to start the day.

  • While I'm watching tv at the end of the day I sometime sit with my chin in my hands. I hold my palms upwards and lay them directly under my chin with the index fingers and thumb one side of my ear, the other fingers on the other side. I feel as if it supports the whole of my head and acts like a kind of scaffolding after a hard day! (sounds wierd I know) I love the comforting, supportive healing that reiki brings me when I have my hands in this position.
