I SAW A SIGN

I returned from my Djembe drumming session, parked the car and looked up.  This is what I saw!

A ray of sunlight must have caught something and reflected onto this stone wall.  It was a reflection of an illuminating moment during my drumming session.  Illuminating it certainly was.

I started drumming a few weeks ago, so not long, but instantly felt that Reiki was constantly my companion while I played the lovely Djembe drum.  My hands were literally buzzing and felt alive with excitement.

I get lost in the rhythms and my heart lights up, it feels like I'm a child learning the beats of the earths rhythms, it's something I can do independently or with others.  I like the fact that I have a choice.

I quickly realised that I had built a relationship with the drum.  I affirmed my gratitude to the earth for providing the sustenance to produce a tree that was so fine, to make the base of the drum.
I expressed gratitude for the dear goat that had given it's hide for the drum surface, for the person that had carved the wooden base, the person that had put my drum together and blessed the whole process -the creation of my drum.  I called upon the spirit of Reiki to help me to make music and the spirit of the goat and tree to work with me - to be grounded and yet have fun.

The experience has created a oneness with the instrument.  Music has awakened a spirit within me, a part of me that remained encased in the past, struggling to master the flute when I was younger and feeling under pressure to play the Saxophone which I found really difficult, lets just say I didn't consider myself a natural, although I made reasonable headway.

Now as the little block of light on the wall illustrates, I've been able to light a spark inside me that really loves to express myself with music.  I feel free to beat out the rhythms of my choice, to beat the rhythms from deep within and to fuse with the beat of the earth.

Let Reiki open yourself up to creativity, it will light up your life.

Blessings.  Mavis x
