It's important for all of us as humans trying to live a spiritual life, that we have a solid foundation. Grounding provides us with this firm foundation for our spiritual growth.
If things get a bit hectic it's easy to feel unsteady, a bit giddy, light headed and unable to keep your feet firmly on the floor. Grounding helps keep us steady.
Earth energy is heavy, powerful and grounding and this gives us physical and mental strength. To feel grounded, is to feel strong, secure and safe as well as physically connected to the environment.
For this exercise stand with room around you. Raise your arms and visualise yourself as a mighty tree rooted into the earth and extending its branches to the Universe. Try and really feel the experience.
Exercise:
Focus on your solar plexus
Breathe in deeply and out slowly. Do this a few times concentrating on the same spot.
Say to yourself 'I am centred'.
Raise your arms to the Universe and try the following visualisation and decree.
I am a tree
grounded, supported, supportive and balanced.
I stand firm on the ground - solid roots emerge from the souls of my feet
Spreading outwards and downwards,
excitedly feeling their way.
I sense the coolness of the soil
as my extending roots penetrate deeply into the earth.
Deeper, deeper, deeper they go.
Feel the worms tickling my toes.
I am grounded
From my feet upwards,
I am the trunk of a mighty tree
I feel joy at my strength, durability and my supportive structure.
I reach and spread my arms upwards, outwards.
I sense the great power that comes from above
and feel light pouring downwards, flooding my being
from top to bottom and throughout.
I breathe deeply from just below my naval,
focusing on my individual power, my own personal light
I am centred.
My roots ground me
My arms connect me
My trunk centres me
I live in the joy of who I am
It is my intention to be in a place of joy.
I AM.
