Reiki - First time experiences

The first time I switched on Reiki
in walked love.

BIG AND BOLD.
It held me in its arms,
encompassed me with healing,
stayed as long as necessary
HELD NO JUDGEMENT.

At session end
REIKI LOVE unwrapped me gently,
and filling my aura full
walked with me.

It continues to walk with me ALWAYS.

Sometimes I forget about healing myself,
I just think.......... HUG
and Reii fills every atom of my being and love holds me tight.
My aura quivers with source energy
I know that i am held in the arms of something
no words can describe however OFTEN I try.

Protection

We've talked about Grounding and centering in the last few blogs.  I think of these two exercises as being the foundations to my Reiki practice, there is one more - Protection.

To ground, centre and protect are the three elements that keep me safe and well every day.  Even if you only spend 5 minutes doing these three things you'll notice a difference in the way the day goes.  I like the fact that even during the day it's possible to carry out these three short exercises and to feel better about things.

I'm surrounded by people every day at work, as well as working closely with individuals through my Reiki practice.  Years ago I noticed that I felt incredibly drained after being in the presence of some people, sometimes I would feel overwhelmed by this sense of tiredness.  The reason?  Some people that we come into contact with simply don't know they're doing it, but they draw on our energy.  Drawing on someone's energy can be an instinctive processes for those that aren't well or are feeling down, they probably have no idea that they're doing it.  Whilst your working as a Reiki practitioner you might notice that you feel drained after being in the company of some people, if this is the case then you might like to think about providing yourself with some protection.

Protecting yourself is a simple, straightforward process.  There are a number of books that give advice if you'd like to know more.

Some people use prayers to God/ our source, some ask the angels for help, especially Archangel Michael, there are many ways to try and as with Reiki, the best way is the way that you're most comfortable with.

If you feel vulnerable to the energy vibrations around you, or even if you're not sure what that means, try the following and see how you feel.

  • First thing in the morning call on Reiki, using the power symbol and distance healing symbol.  Have the intention that you will be protected by all energies that are not for your highest good.
  • When you wake up say to yourself, or out loud "I am protected, I am protected, I am protected".
  • Visualise a huge protective coat/cloak all around you, it can by plain or decorated, warm and scrumptious, make it how you want it.  I love to imagine a thick purple velvet cloak with a gold lining which is filled with Reiki symbols.
  • Visualise that you're surrounded by a large bright violet flame burning brightly all around you.  Know that nothing but goodness and love can penetrate it.
  • Imagine a tube of light surrounding you, reaching right down into the earth and up to the sky.  You can see this as a wall made of golden bricks or blocks or like a huge strong ray of light if you prefer, remember you can visualise the Reiki symbols within the light or bricks.
  • Imagine a beautiful flower, you're in the middle of it feeling safe and secure.  The petals fold down around you and keep you safe.  You might find that you're drawn to working with a specific colour flower that enables you to feel even more protected.  In the centre of the flower you can draw the Reiki symbols that you feel drawn to using.  You could imagine the power symbol underneath you, or visualise 4 around you, one above and one below depending on the circumstances.
  • Imagine a mirror all the way around you, reflecting back all that is not for your highest good.
  • See a large, strong, impressive shield in front of you, shielding you from all the energies that aren't helpful to you.  Remember to inject some Reiki into the shield.
  • See yourself inside a big bubble of light.  Fill the bubble with Reiki.  Imagine tiny Reiki symbols floating around inside sparkling and keeping you safe and well.
Another option is to say any of the following:

I am the violet flame and fire of light.

                     *

The light of God surrounds me
The love of God enfolds me
The power of God protects me
The presence of God watches over me
Wherever I am God is.

                     *

I call on Archangel Michael to protect me and guide me at all times.

                     *
Lord Michael before, Lord Michael behind
Lord Michael to the left, Lord Michael to the right
Lord Michael above, Lord Michael below
Lord Michael, Lord Michael, wherever I go.

Remember it is the intention that matters.  Be confident that you're working in the light and for the highest good.

Always remain grounded.

Remember that Reiki is a joyous experience and that you should't get bogged down with things, just trust and flow wherever you go.

Reiki sleep tonic

Hello there!
I've been away for a few days to Wales.  I'm back refreshed by the green rolling fields and the sensational flame coloured trees.  Any cobwebs that were left were blown away by billowing winds followed by a deep clean, courtesy of the torrential downpours that ensued.  There's no adventure without variety!!!

I'll be uploading a few photos in the next few days so keep your eyes open.

I usually have a bit of trouble sleeping in a bed that isn't my own, always a downfall of going away from home.  However Reiki came to the rescue as usual and I thought I'd share my latest Reiki tonics.

Drawing/visualising the emotional and/or power symbol over my third eye helped me go to sleep really quickly.

or

Visualising the emotional and/or power symbol within my mind, either still or turning very slowly, aided my state of calm until I was able to sleep.

I held the intention

'My mind is still and calm, my sleep is deep and refreshing'

Both methods worked just as well and it's a good opportunity to spend some time meditating on the symbols to strengthen our relationship with them.

Autumn

Autumn's here.  Look at the photo above, can you see what appears to be a hand to the right of the red/yellow leaf.  Mother earth reaches out to touch our hearts with her last display of magical colour before Winter falls.

Autumn is truly upon us.  I love it, it makes me feel vibrant as if it's provoking/stimulating a last great effort of doing, before Winter arrives.  It's been like Summer, with cloudless skies and sunshine beating down on us in Cornwall.  The temperatute's changed, it's cooler, with a crisp coldness especially in the morning and evening but it's just beautiful.

Autumn always reminds me of my deep connection with the earth.  It reminds me of where my roots are, of how important colour is in my life.  When the mornings are cold and I can follow my breath on the air, it reminds me of the importance of my experience of life.

Autumn reminds me that in order to create action I need to rest, recoup and plan ready for the next round of doing.  This period of Autumnal colour signals a time of focus on self healing and longer periods of meditation to connect with who I really am and also to connect and experience Reiki at a deeper level.

The last few days I've felt inclined to draw the Power symbol around me, on my left and right, infront and to my back, as well as above and below me.  I imagine the space around me, between the symbols and myself, all filled with beautiful protective, healing and glittering light with tiny reiki symbols all around.  This space is restful and protective, healing and restorative.

Something else I've found helpul:

I visualise the Distance healing symbol behind me and see it extending into my past, healing and releasing all the things that I've outgrown and that are no longer useful to me.  Sometimes this appears as a strong picture of a symbol in 3D and in bright colour, whereas at other times this changes and it becomes like beautiful, misty, glittering, dust that swirls around me and trails off into the distance behind me.

One more thing:

I've been working with the Emotional symbol more frequently.  I draw the Emotional symbol on my third eye in the morning when giving myself reiki.  I've found the last few months have been quite emotional.  Reiki has restored my strength and hope.

Try this:
Before you put on your shoes fill them with Reiki.  Visualise the symbols within the shoes and choose an intention, an example could be " I walk in love", "Today I walk with my head held high", "As I walk so I am grounded in the love of the earth".

Never neglect to treat yourself with kindness.
Reiki blessings to you.

Grounding

It's important for all of us as humans trying to live a spiritual life, that we have a solid foundation.  Grounding provides us with this firm foundation for our spiritual growth.

If things get a bit hectic it's easy to feel unsteady, a bit giddy, light headed and unable to keep your feet firmly on the floor.  Grounding helps keep us steady.

Earth energy is heavy, powerful and grounding and this gives us physical and mental strength.  To feel grounded, is to feel strong, secure and safe as well as physically connected to the environment.

For this exercise stand with room around you.  Raise your arms and visualise yourself as a mighty tree rooted into the earth and extending its branches to the Universe.  Try and really feel the experience.

Exercise:

Focus on your solar plexus
Breathe in deeply and out slowly.  Do this a few times concentrating on the same spot.
Say to yourself 'I am centred'.

Raise your arms to the Universe and try the following visualisation and decree.

I am a tree
grounded, supported, supportive and balanced.

I stand firm on the ground - solid roots emerge from the souls of my feet
Spreading outwards and downwards,
excitedly feeling their way.

I sense the coolness of the soil
as my extending roots penetrate deeply into the earth.

Deeper, deeper, deeper they go.
Feel the worms tickling my toes.

I am grounded

From my feet upwards,
I am the trunk of a mighty tree
I feel joy at my strength, durability and my supportive structure.

I reach and spread my arms upwards, outwards.

I sense the great power that comes from above
and feel light pouring downwards, flooding my being
from top to bottom and throughout.

I breathe deeply from just below my naval,
focusing on my individual power, my own personal light

I am centred.

My roots ground me
My arms connect me
My trunk centres me
I live in the joy of who I am
It is my intention to be in a place of joy.

I AM.

Centering

Lots of people talk about 'centering', but what is it?

Centering means to align our body and mind, taking the time to be in the moment, to focus and calm ourselves.

Everything is made up of energy and there are hundreds of names for this energy.  Two types of energy that we're concerned with when centering are 'Earth' energy or chi and 'Heaven' energy or chi, two of the primary components of the Universe.

We're made up of a blend of these energies, earth chi represents the physical and heaven chi represents the mind.  To integrate mind and body we need to work on balancing earth and heaven chi, which then creates centredness.

Think of the earth chi point - this is about 2 inches below the naval.  This is known in Zen Buddhism as the tanden.  This is reputed to be the centre of gravity and balance for our body.  When you focus the mind here it is immediately integrated with the body.  The mind and body become balanced.

Breathe in to this point below your naval, deeply and slowly.  Affirm to yourself 'I am centred'.

By doing this exercise the mind becomes focused in the now, the physical self, rather than racing all over the place with our day to day thoughts.

Thought for today.........

Look to this day,
for yesterday is but a dream
and tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
makes every yesterday
a dream of happiness
and every tomorrow
a vision of hope,
look well
therefore to this day.

JUST FOR A WHILE, SOAK UP A SMILE

Fill up with joy!

Feeling full of joy and reflecting it out to the world around you is a great way to bring healing into your own life and the lives of those around you.

Still your mind, body and spirit.
Breathe deeply and relax.

You are aware that in your hand you have a small bag; in that bag is a selection of balloons.  They're all different colours, all shapes and sizes.  You notice the way they look, the texture and the bag that they're contained in.

When you're ready decide what's stopping JOY being let lose inside you.

Say to yourself " I release .........."

Blow into the balloon and inflate it.  Whilst doing this you feel every ounce of the thing that you are releasing being expelled into the balloon.  Don't worry how big the balloon gets, it won't burst or hurt you.

When you're ready you tie the balloon and release it into the universe.
Watch as the balloon floats away high up into the cosmos.

As each balloon reaches higher and higher, you see it explode and all that was inside turns into sparkly particles of joy and millions of tiny Reiki symbols which fill the sky with love, light and healing.

As you watch the last balloon take flight and being transformed into healing, consciously SMILE.
Breathe in and out slowly, focusing on that wonderful smile.  What feeling does it give you inside, how does it make you feel?

Working through each part of your body, from top to toe, sense each part smiling with a broad, glorious smile.

When doing this exercise you might find it difficult to feel a smile in some areas, if you do, imagine a big yellow smiley.  Imagine transforming your whole head into a big smiley, then see a smiley face attached to your throat etc.  I especially enjoy seeing my knees with a cartoon smiley like appearance and each of my toes; it never fails to bring a smile to my face!!  We can have an imagination as lively as you like, after all the whole point of the exercise is to make you smile.
